Spartan Mentor Softball Camp
This camp allows for participants to train with current SJSU athletes. Campers will learn when it takes to be a Spartan that competes against some of the best in the Nation. The speed of the drill and near flawless technique has been instrumental to the foundation that built Spartan softball into the one of the tops in the Nation. This camp is open to any and all entrants and is designed to identify and develop potential student-athletes with the ability to play multiple positions at an above average level. The camp is taught by the following coaches as well as our SJSU Spartan players who have played at the highest level of fastpitch softball. The camp will encompass the following:
Hitting: Chase Turner will cover various techniques that will add additional power numbers to all fields. Including: The use of both Rotational and Linear components in the swing, physics/biomechanical mechanism behind a short powerful swing.
Pitching: Coach Turner will cover basic pitches and correct techniques that will produce more velocity and better rotation.
Defense: Each athlete will learn the techniques of multiple defensive positions.
Mentality of a Hitter: With a Master's of Kinesiology and a background of sports psychology, Coach Chase Turner will take on mental sides of competing at the highest level
